Green Roots is a program aimed at promoting sustainable gardening in and around San Francisco and educating folks about the medicinal uses of herbs. By participating in our program, you can help the planet and your health. We are collaborating with Pollinate Farm and 1849 Medicine Garden, local farms that follow permaculture rules and sustainable gardening. Come to our event and learn how you can help yourself and the Earth! Everything we offer is designed to change your life/style and positively impact the planet in a sustainable, long lasting and impactful way.
In the fast-paced modern world, humans are disconnected from the Earth and themselves, leading to a variety of chronic diseases and overall poor health. One way people can reconnect with the Earth and themselves is through sustainable agriculture that does not use pesticides, chemicals, or GMOs. Eating quality food is one of the most important factors affecting health, so supporting farmers who practice sustainable agriculture in our local area is essential. Food can be a poison, but it can also be medicine; it depends on the quantity and the quality. Additionally, herbal medicine provides various health benefits and is environmentally and bodily friendly.
We are collaborating with Pollinate Farm and 1849 Medicine Garden, local farms that follow permaculture rules and sustainable gardening. Our guest speakers will be Yolanda Burell, an Oakland-based farmer and owner of Pollinate Farm, and Bonnie Rose Weaver, a medicinal herbalist and owner of 1849 Medicine Garden. Both of them have a lot of experience and knowledge that they will be happy to share with those who participate in our upcoming event.
We welcome Bay area residents and tourists interested in ecology, sustainable gardening practices, and promoting their own health. Join us on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park for workshops, educational lectures and fun activities!
